Our patented LED lighting technology, which has been in the Industrial market for two years and trademarked as FreedomView® received Photonics Tech Briefs’ Readers Choice Product of the Year distinction in 2007. We are now moving this technology into our medical endoscope products with the first of these devices, the ENTity Nasopharyngoscope, receiving FDA 510(k) clearance on April 4, 2008.
We will continue the development of new medical and industrial products using this patented technology and to expand our reach beyond endoscope products alone, in January 2008 we launched OPTIM Illumination Systems, LLC to capitalize on non-endoscope LED lighting opportunities that could benefit from our unique approach.
From our Sturbridge, Massachusetts headquarters, OPTIM's skilled employees produce medical endoscopes, industrial fiberscopes and related subassemblies for our OEM customers, distributors and endoscope service companies. In addition, our North Brookfield, MA machining operation, (Optim Machining Services), provides machining capabilities for OPTIM and for a number of medical and non-medical customers.
